Choreography Statement:

Life is nonlinear, but as dance artists we accept the challenge of communicating life through the lines and curves of our bodies. Create a beginning, middle, and end to share with audiences, making it feel cohesive and intentional in contrast to our day-to-day lives, where that same structure is not often required. It is magical and inspiring, the stories and emotions that can be created within the bounds of a simple rectangular stage. Through utilizing our breathe and movement, we bring real-life stories to life, stories that feel personal and private, all while under bright lights and the watchful eyes.

Dance is an art form that speaks across generations, bringing people together from all walks of life and immersing them in a shared movement experience. I do not seek to create one sided narrative works, because to me, that is not a truthful depiction of life. I explore a wide range of perspectives and create a sense of unity amongst dancers and audiences. This approach fosters an open and collaborative environment in the studio, where conversation plays a central role. I lead with the intention of a “yes, and” mindset, with the hopes that the dancers share their own creativity and personal experience.
